This section currently contains only my BSc. Hons. project for Theoretical Physics, though I may still add some pf the other work I did during 2007.

Rapidity Dependence of Thermal Parameters in Gold on Gold Collisions

I started this project in the beginning of 2007 to keep me busy in the vacation period. Through fast and clever work, I managed to gain enough of an understanding of the material to convert the work into an honours project. The project involved using a thermal model of the fireball created by gold on gold nuclear collisions to calculate the rapidity distributions of various particle species. This had been done before using Monte Carlo simulations but these turned out to be too slow to use for Chi square minimizations. Using some work by Toneev et al. we were able to find integral expressions for the rapidity distributions of particles coming from two and three -body decays. This allowed me to use numerical integrations techniques to calculate the rapidity distributions.

The results of the project were presented by Prof. Jean Cleymans at the GSI workshop on Critical Point and Onset of Deconfinement in Darmstadt, July 2007. The reference is:
