Photography

I have  always had an interest in photography. My current camera is a Canon Powershot A710 IS that's been hacked with a CHDK firmware update to allow things like raw shooting and cool scripts. I enjoy taking photo's of landscapes and nature and here are some of my favourite photos.

V&A Waterfront
Namibia - Quiver Tree Forest
A picture taken from a restaurant in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. I really liked the way the colours turned out here.

This was taken at the Quiver Tree Forest near Keetmanshoop in Namibia. It was taken on an awesome, bizarre and stormy new years evening. I wanted to try and capture the second (refracted) rainbow and you can just make it out on the left.

Fish Hoek Beach - Cape Town
Namibia - Sossuslei
Taken near the Deadvlei in the Namib. This is the deepest point into the Namib that one can get to with a 4x4 and without getting special permits or breaking laws.

Walking to the Deadvlei I passed these dunes. I liked the interplay of lines and angles and the photo turned out quite nice. If only my camera at the time wasn't marred by a speck of dust on the lens.
Fish Hoek Beach - Cape Town
Fish Hoek Beach - Cape Town
This is at Fish Hoek beach where I was a life-guard. I don't know who the person in the photo is and I didn't plan on having them there, but I've really come to like it. I think it's the colours.

A particularly stormy night in the Kgalagadi National Park in Botswana. It was very near sunset and I had fun sitting precariously on a hut, balancing a tripod and playing with lighting.
